Zoe Saldana is the child of Asalia Saldana and Aridio Nazario. She was born in Passaic (New Jersey) on 19th June 1978. Her father is Dominican as is her mother Puerto Rican. She was raised by her mother who lived in Queens. The family she was raised with moved from Queens, New York in the Dominican Republic when she was 10-years-old; they stayed there for seven years. Zoe was able to establish an appreciation for dance when she lived in Dominican Republic. At the prestigious ECOS Espacio de Danza Dance Academy Zoe learned both ballet and various other dance styles. Apart from providing a creative outlet for young people who are enthusiastic and passionate, her dance training will prove to be an important precursor to her first acting profession. Zoe's parents moved back to United States when Zoe was seventeen years old. The passion for dance and interest in performing on stage increased.
